Priests who meet legal requirements may be granted permission to own and carry guns for their protection, Malaca帽ang said on Tuesday.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque made the remarks amid opposition aired by some Church leaders to suggestions to arm priests for self-defense.
鈥淲e have requirements and guidelines,鈥� Roque said.
鈥淚f any priest will qualify, then I鈥檓 sure the Philippine National Police will issue the corresponding gun license,鈥� he said. 鈥�Julie M. Aurelio
