Boy dies in Mariveles mudslide
MARIVELES, BATAAN — A seven-year old boy was buried alive by a mudslide that struck his home at 12:10 a.m. on Monday in Barangay Lucanin here during strong rains.
Rescuers raced to dig out Mark Eithan Ocampo, but he was retrieved three hours later. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital, according to Angelito Ocampo, the boy’s grandfather.
Mark’s mother, Catherine, was also injured in the accident. She and her son were reportedly sleeping when the mudslide hit their home, police said. /ee
