1 dead, 18 nabbed in Cavite anti-drug operationsÂ
SAN PEDRO CITY—One was killed while 18 other suspects were arrested in a 24-hour police anti-drug operation in Cavite province.
In Mendez town, suspect Erickson Sarmiento was killed after putting up a fight with members of the arresting policemen from the Drug Enforcement Unit around 1 a.m. Thursday in Barangay (village) Bucal.
Cavite police director Sr. Supt. William Segun said the police recovered a sachet of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) from Sarmiento during the buy bust operation. He said Sarmiento faced separate drug charges in March and September 2016.
Meanwhile, four people were arrested when policemen served a search warrant in Barangay Ibayo Silangan and Barangay Timalan Balsahan in Naic town and in Barangay Bagtas, Tanza.
According to a consolidated report from Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of the regional police, the operations happened between Wednesday morning to early Thursday.
