Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano has rallied the government to ramp up its efforts in rebuilding the war-torn Islamic city of Marawi as Filipino Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice on Tuesday.
Alejano also called on the government to assure that martial law in Mindanao would not 鈥渋mpede on the rights鈥 of the people there, or worsen their situation.
鈥淗inihiling ko na sa araw na ito ay mabigyan ng panibagong lakas at pag-asa ang ating mga kababayang Muslim, lalong-lalo na ang mga labis na naapektuhan ng kaguluhan sa Marawi. May their faith guide them through these troubled times,鈥 he said in a statement.
鈥淢ore than that, I urge the government to ramp up its effort to rebuild and rehabilitate Marawi City and to make sure that the Martial Law in effect will not impede on the rights of our people or worsen their situation. Sa lalong madaling panahon, dapat maibalik na sa normal ang sitwasyon sa Marawi,鈥 he added.
Alejano said he hoped the entire nation stand in solidarity with Filipino Muslims聽as they commemorate one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar.
鈥淚t is my earnest desire that the entire nation聽stand聽in solidarity with our Muslim brethren as we pave the way to a better tomorrow,鈥 he said.
