2 killed in Davao del Sur drug raid

DIGOS CITY – Two drug suspects died after a raid in Sitio Mangahan, Barangay Sinawilan, in Matanao, Davao del Sur, on Saturday night.

Chief Inspector Grace de Castro, Davao del Sur PNP spokesperson, said a police antidrug team targeted a man known only as “Mokiam” in a buy bust operation at the Prince Carlo Inn at about 6:30 p.m.

However, Mokiam allegedly drew a handgun and opened fire at an undercover agent, prompting law enforcers to retaliate, wounding the suspect and his companion.

The lawmen rushed them to Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital in Digos City were declared dead on arrival.

Police said Mokiam was member of the Bagondong armed group in Cotabato City but could not establish yet his real identity. /cbb
