Classes in some schools in Northern and Central Luzon remained suspended on Tuesday as the effects of Typhoon “Ompong” lingered in certain areas.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council said nearly 600,000 people were affected by Ompong.

Local authorities announced the suspension of classes in the following areas:

Cagayan

• all levels, public and private

Apayao

• all levels, public and private

Bulacan

• Calumpit – all levels, public and private

Pangasinan

• Calasiao – all levels, public and private
• Dagupan City – all levels, public and private
• Benguet
• Tublay – pre-school to elementary, public and private
• La Trinidad – pre-school to elementary, public and private

Ilocos Norte

• Pagudpud – all levels, public and private (until September 19)
• Pasuquin – all levels
• Vintar – all levels
• Northwestern University in Laoag City

Pampanga

• Apalit – Paligui, Cansinala (all levels)
• Candaba – Barangays Sto Rosario, Pansinao, Gulap, Lanang, Paralaya, Pasig, Buas, Pescadores, San Agustin, Mandasig, Bambang (public and private all levels)
• San Luis – Barangays San Juan, San Nicolas, Sta. Monica, San Agustin, Sta. Cruz Poblacion, Sto. Tomas, Sta. Rita, Sta. Cruz Pambilog, Sta. Catalina (public and private all levels)
