Nine Koreans illegally working in Para帽aque City have been arrested and now face deportation, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said Tuesday.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the Koreans were working in stores, restaurants and a language school when they were arrested on Sept. 18.

鈥淚nitial investigation revealed that these aliens are either tourists, undocumented or holders of work visas acquired through misrepresentation. They will thus undergo deportation proceedings for violating the conditions of their stay in the country,鈥 Morente said in a statement.

The Koreans were identified as Seongjin Chung, Heakyung Pyun, Doyeon Kim, Myoungkyu Seong, Eun Kyung Lee, Kwan Soo Heo, Jeong Dong Kim, Sanghwan Pyun, and Song Min Sup.

BI spokesperson Dana Krizia Sandoval said three of the foreigners were only holding tourist visas, while three others had working visas but were not working for the employers who petitioned them.

The status of the three other Koreans is still being verified.

Sandoval said the operation was conducted by the Intelligence Division following complaints about Koreans working in stores and other establishments in BF Homes subdivision in Para帽aque City.

鈥淥peratives from the BI鈥檚 Intelligence Division conducted surveillance activities to verify reports of illegal aliens in the area,鈥 Sandoval said.聽/cbb
