Ex-SolGen to vie for Senate seat in 2019 polls

Former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay announced Friday his intention to run for a Senate seat in the 2019 midterm elections.

In his Twitter post, Hilbay said he will run for Senate as a response to the challenge of serving the country and to defend democracy.

“Tayo po ay tatakbo para sa Senado bilang tugon sa hamon na pagsilbihan ang taumbayan (at) ipagpatuloy ang pagtanggol sa ating demokrasya,” Hilbay wrote.

He did not say yet when he plans to file his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections in Intramuros, Manila.

The filing of COC will end by October 17. /kga
