4.8-magnitude quake hits Ilocos Norte Wednesday morning

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake hit Ilocos Norte on Wednesday early morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said the quake hit 2 kilometers (km) northeast of Jose Carasi, Ilocos Norte, at 4:02 a.m.

The quake was felt at Intensity II in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte and had an instrumental intensity of I in Sinait, Ilocos Sur.

The tremblor of tectonic origin had a depth of 19 km.

Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the earthquake. /cbb
