Suspected kidnap-for-ransom gang member dead in Laguna drug bust
SAN PEDRO CITY — A suspected member of a kidnap-for-ransom group in Laguna and Batangas provinces was killed in a shootout with the police in Calamba City on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Supt. Eleazar Matta, Laguna police director, identified the slain suspect as Dennis Guilas, 32, and a member of the Fajardo kidnap for ransom group.
He said the shootout happened in Barangay Bucal at around 3:30 p.m. after Guilas and two other companions sold suspected shabu (crystal meth) to undercover policemen
Matta said the suspects opened fire forcing the police to shoot back.
Guilas was killed while his companions, Ramonchito Fajardo and Jayson Garcia, had escaped.
The police said they recovered about five grams of suspected “shabu” and a KG-9 submachine gun from the slain suspect. /ee
