As the University of the Philippines’ (UP) Fighting Maroons and Ateneo de Manila University’s Blue Eagles meet on Wednesday for the second game of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men’s basketball championship series, the police will be keeping watch not only inside the venue, but outside as well.

Director Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office chief, said that the police would continue to crack down on scalpers at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Over 16,000 spectators are expected to watch the matchup between the two teams.

“We will catch and arrest these scalpers wherever this series goes. I pity the students who want to enjoy a good basketball game and cheer for their school,” he added.

A total of 17 people were arrested by the police at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday for selling overpriced tickets to the first game.
