Taguig cop shot dead by robbery suspects

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer was killed in a shootout with two robbery suspects in Taguig City on Thursday.

PO1 Arnel Taccaban, assigned at the Intelligence Section of the Taguig City Police, was shot during a follow-up police operation against two unidentified men linked to series of robbery-hold up incidents in Barangay Pinagsama.

Taccaban was rushed to Taguig Pateros Hospital but eventually died.

According to a report from the Southern Police District on Friday, Taccaban conducted many operations before that led to the arrest of several suspects.

Investigation on the incident is still ongoing, as of this posting. /kga
