NDRRMC: Nearly 5,000 affected by ‘Usman’

MANILA, Philippines — As of Sunday morning, a total of 1,274 families or 4,906 persons were affected by Tropical Depression “Usman” in Regions V and VIII, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.

In its update issued 6 a.m. Sunday, NDRRMC noted that 1,169 families or 2,567 persons were pre-emptively evacuated in 29 barangays in the provinces of Region VIII.

The agency also said that 78 areas were reportedly flooded in Regions V and VIII, while 59 areas experienced power interruptions during the inclement weather in Regions IV-A and IV-B.

A total of 3,678 passengers, 356 rolling cargoes, 28 vessels and 7 motorbancas were stranded, NDRRMC reported, adding that 36 domestic flights have been canceled since Thursday.
