Rowdy carpenter lands in Pasig jail for alleged drug possession

MANILA, Philippines — A carpenter who caused a disturbance in a residential area in Pasig City was arrested Tuesday night when he yielded a sachet of suspected shabu when accosted by patrolling policemen.
A report from the Eastern Police District identified the suspect as Eraño Moncada, a 56-year-old carpenter who was caught creating a commotion in a neighborhood in barangay Palatiw.
Initial investigation revealed that Eraño’s arrest came after elements of the Pasig City police conducted an anti-criminality and law enforcement operation along Villa Raymundo Compound.
The report added that the policemen initially tried to pacify Moncada when they saw him creating a scandal, however, the suspect all the more displayed unruly behavior, prompting the police to place him under arrest.
When policemen conducted a body frisk, authorities found a sachet of suspected shabu in Moncada’s possession.
The suspect was detained at the Pasig City police station while awaiting inquest proceedings for charges of alarm and scandal and violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police said. /jpv
