MANILA, Philippines鈥擣our days before the May 13 elections, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is on the 鈥渇inal stages鈥� of configuring the 鈥渙nline precinct finder,鈥� the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Thursday.
鈥溾�榊ung precinct finder ngayon nasa final stages na siya,鈥� Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said in a press briefing.
鈥淛ust a little bit of clarification, pagdating sa precinct finder ang sagot lang [ng] Comelec ay ang data. Pero 鈥榶ung application manggagaling sa DICT. 鈥榊an yung arrangement natin para masiguro na walang data breaches,鈥� he added.
Jimenez said the DICT is working doubly hard to ensure that the feature will not become a 鈥渧ector鈥� for hacking the Comelec website.
The poll official is referring to the 2016 鈥淐omeleak鈥� data breach where the Comelec website was defaced and hacked, with sensitive voter information of over 77 million voters compromised and leaked on the Internet.

Jimenez said they are hoping that the feature, which will be available聽at the , will go live by the end of the week.
鈥淭hey [DICT] underwent testing yesterday, so may ilan pang tests na susunod. Mga dalawa pang test runs. Live na 鈥榶ung beta pero hopefully 鈥榶ung final version live na by Friday or Saturday,鈥� he said. /jpv
