Comelec sets probe on VCM burning incident in Isabela
MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will look into the burning of a vote counting machine (VCM) used in the midterm elections in Isabela.
“Paiimbestigahan natin ‘yan (We will have it investigated),” Comelec Chairman Sheriff Abas said in a press conference on Tuesday.
Abas was referring to a report that armed men snatched and burned a VCM and election paraphernalia which were being transferred to the municipal canvassing center in Jones, Isabela Tuesday morning.
Board of Election Inspector head Arlyn Borromeo-Santos, who reported the incident to authorities, said the VCM earlier malfunctioned and failed to process some 200 ballots.
