Cagayan Gov. Mamba gets reelected; other winning bets proclaimed

TUGUEGARAO CITY — Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba, a 60-year-old medical doctor by profession, was reelected to his post and was proclaimed winner on Thursday, beating his closest rival Rep. Randolph Ting.

Receiving 254,598 votes, Mamba won over Ting, who got 167,872, and former Gov. Alvaro Antonio, who obtained 91,973 votes.

In the vice gubernatorial race, reelectionist Melvin Vargas Jr. garnered 216,336 votes to be proclaimed the winner.  He defeated Ignacio Taruc, who got 126,707 votes and former vice governor Leonides Fausto, who obtained 110,022 votes.

For congressional representatives, unopposed Rep. Ramon Nolasco Jr. of the first district got 126,538 votes.
