A father and son from South Carolina, USA, graduated at the same time from the same university.
Forty-nine-year-old Antonio Gathers and his son, 23-year-old Brandon, did not expect at first they would be graduating at the same time from the South Carolina State University, as per ABC 黑料社 4 on May 9. Antonio received his master鈥檚 degree in Rehabilitation Psychology and Brandon his bachelor鈥檚 degree in Business Management last May 10.聽
The two have been each other鈥檚 inspiration through school. As Brandon shared, his father was the perfect model of a father figure.
鈥淗e鈥檚 like my inspiration. He鈥檚 the perfect model of a black male father figure,鈥� Brandon said in the report. 鈥淗e鈥檚 a God-fearing man, he鈥檚 successful, he鈥檚 intelligent, he knows what he鈥檚 doing. He is just a great person in general.鈥�
Antonio, meanwhile, said it was his son鈥檚 perseverance that got him going.
鈥淗e was an inspiration to me, just seeing his perseverance,鈥� he said. 鈥�Doing other things, and having a full-time career, you kind of put yourself on the back burner. And it was just really important to me to get [this] degree to pursue another avenue in my life and in my career so that I could help people.鈥澛� Cody Cepeda /ra
