Luzon under yellow, red alerts on June 7 鈥� NGCP
MANILA, Philippines — The Luzon grid will be under yellow and red alerts for 14 hours on Friday, June 7, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.
In a Twitter post, the NGCP said the country’s biggest power grid would be under yellow alert from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again on 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., a total of eight hours.
A “yellow alert” is raised when “a grid’s reserve power — the difference between supply and demand — is below the required level,” according to the NGCP.
Meanwhile, the Luzon grid would be under red alert for four hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A “red alert” is raised when there is a likelihood that demand will outstrip available generating capacity.
The available capacity of Luzon grid is at 11,376 megawatts (MW) while peak demand is at 11,237 MW, the NGCP said.
