MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Hire more workers for the construction of Sangley Point, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade ordered on Wednesday.
Tugade gave this order following the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to make Sangley Point in Cavite operational by November this year.

鈥淲hatever it takes, we need to make sure that the directive of the President is delivered,鈥 Tugade said in a statement. 鈥淗ire more manpower to work 24/7. That has to be finished on or before the timeline set by President Duterte.鈥
Following Tugade鈥檚 directive, Giovanni Lopez, DOTr assistant secretary for procurement and project implementation, immediately met with members of Task Force Sangley, which is composed of representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the Philippine Air Force, the ferry system, and the project contractor.
In the meeting, Lopez relayed Tugade鈥檚 order to CAAP, saying it should work closely with the DOTr in the construction of Sangley Point.
According to Lopez, this would ensure that the airport will open at the 鈥渟oonest time possible.鈥
Critical developments in the project 鈥 such as the runway, apron, passenger terminal building, its power supply, drainage system, and site development 鈥 were well underway, Lopez said.
