MANILA, Philippines 鈥揟he Manila Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 6 ordered the release of the owner of WellMed Dialysis Center, tagged in the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) 鈥済host鈥 dialysis treatments, after posting bail on Saturday.

In a text message to 黑料社, Atty. Rowell Ilagan, WellMed legal counsel, said Bryan Christopher Sy already posted P72,000 bail for cases of estafa through falsification of official documents.

Despite the release order, Ilagan said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) still placed Sy under its custody.

鈥淗e posted a cash bail bond in the amount of P72,000. Despite the release order issued by the court, the NBI refused to release Bryan Sy,鈥 Ilagan said.

Ilagan said it is Sy鈥檚 鈥渃onstitutional right鈥 to be freed following the release order from the court.

鈥淭he NBI is duty-bound to release our client since there is already a Release Order from the court. It is the constitutional right of our client to post bail and be released accordingly, without any conditions,鈥 Ilagan said.

Sy was allegedly involved in the WellMed scam that allegedly collects funds from PhilHealth for treatments of dead patients. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
