QC police probe killing of Taguig cop in Cubao

The police have started investigating the killing of a 41-year-old policeman in Cubao, Quezon City, on Wednesday.听 The initial report of the Quezon City Police District said that Police Senior Master Sergeant Edgar Morada died after he was shot five times by two men on a motorcycle at a gas station on Granada Street. Responding officers from the Cubao police station recovered from the crime scene a .45-caliber pistol reportedly used by the suspects to kill the victim.听 A resident of Upper Bicutan in Taguig City, Morada was last assigned to the Moriones police station in Manila.听听 鈥擬ariejo S. Authorities seize P40K worth of meat from Las Pi帽as City

Almost P40,000 worth of meat that escaped inspection by authorities was seized in Paco, Manila, on Wednesday night. Julius Leonen, the city鈥檚 chief public information officer, said there were 235 pieces of meat, mostly chicken, weighing around 400 kilos. These came from Las Pi帽as City and were supposed to be delivered to Paco Market when intercepted by the Manila Veterinary Inspection Board (VIB). According to Nick Santos, the city鈥檚 VIB chief, the meat came from unaccredited slaughterhouses in Las Pi帽as City and did not go through proper inspection. 鈥擜ie Balagtas See

Pact inked on scholarships for selected Manila residents

The Manila government and Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) have reached an agreement that would give scholarships to deserving students from the city. Under the memorandum of agreement signed on Thursday by Manila Mayor Francisco 鈥淚sko Moreno鈥 Domagoso and EAC officials led by its president Jose Paulo Campos, 12 students would be chosen from each of the city鈥檚 896 barangays. Each would be entitled to a 50-percent discount in tuition. Councilor Princess Abante, who was present during the signing, said the scholarship would be open only to first-time enrollees, but not necessarily freshmen students.听 She chairs the city council鈥檚 committee on education and sports. 鈥淨ualifiers for the scholarship may apply for any course or program at EAC except Medicine,鈥 Abante said.
