LOOK: Grandfather shares meal with departed wife at granddaughter’s wedding
A woman on her wedding day witnessed an unexpected, touching sight — her “pawpaw” eating with her “mawmaw.”
The incident occurred at the wedding of Sahrah Elswick in West Virginia, United States, FOX’s WNYW reported last Tuesday, July 9. Elswick wanted to pay tribute to departed relatives during the wedding through a special memorial.
The memorial is a rocking chair bearing pictures of Elswick’s grandmother and her husband’s stepfather and grandmother. Elswick studded the seat with fairy lights and added a note saying, “We know you would be here today if heaven wasn’t so far away.”
At some point during the celebration, Elswick saw her grandfather sitting by the memorial. The image touched her so much that she took a photo and posted it on her Twitter account last Sunday, July 7.

“My grandma was the most amazing, kind-hearted woman I’ve known and I’m sure anyone who knew her would tell you the same,” Elswick told Metro last Wednesday, July 10. “She was a beautiful soul.”
