Couple, bystander dead in Bataan road crash

MARIVELES, Bataan –– Three people were killed when a cargo truck hit an electric post near a funeral home here on Wednesday evening, police said.

Investigators said truck driver Gerardo Ignacio, 45, lost control of the steering wheel, which caused the vehicle to crash into the post before hitting a bystander in Barangay Mountain View, Mariveles.

Ignacio and his partner identified as Loida Centillon died while being taken to a hospital.

Police said bystander Jasper Vinzon, who was attending to a deceased relative at the funeral home, was also killed in the accident.

The cargo truck was loaded with animal feed and was heading to Metro Manila from Mariveles town when the accident occurred, police said. /lzb
