A man found a frozen baby while clearing out his departed mother鈥檚 freezer, and now believes that the baby聽was his sister who passed away before he was born.

Thirty-seven-year-old Adam Smith聽discovered the cadaver while going through his mother鈥檚 apartment in Missouri, United States,聽 NBC- affiliate KSDK reported on Monday, July 29.

Smith recently moved into his mother鈥檚 apartment to take care of her until she died of cancer last week. As he went through his mother鈥檚 things, he saw a box inside her freezer.

鈥淚鈥檓 37 and it has been in my freezer for 37 years and I was always told it was like a wedding cake topping,鈥� Smith was quoted as saying.聽

Smith was shocked to see that the box contained a frozen baby wrapped in a pink fleece.聽

鈥淚t still had skin, hair and everything, it was mummified,鈥� Smith said in the report. 鈥淎fter that, I just freaked out. I put it back into the box and I called police right away.鈥�

Smith was always brushed aside by his mother whenever he asked about the box. He now remembers his mom talking about his sister who passed away before he was born.

鈥淲e鈥檙e saying what, 46 or 47 [years], that鈥檚 how long, I assume it鈥檚 my sister, it鈥檚 been in a box, in a freezer for this long,鈥� Smith was quoted as saying. 鈥淔inding this, I鈥檓 more confused, angry and I just wanna find closure, I wanna know more answers.鈥�
