MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday ordered the relief of a policeman from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) who allegedly got involved in a road rage incident along Commonwealth Avenue.

NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar also ordered the reassignment of Police Master Sergeant (PMSg) Wilson Q. Aquino from QCPD’s Police Station-3 Tactical Motorcycle Reaction Unit to the NCRPO Regional Headquarters Support Unit.

In a statement, Eleazar said a complainant only identified as “Robert” personally appeared before him at NCRPO on Thursday and reported to him the incident that took place last July 26.

NCRPO’s investigation revealed that Robert was traversing Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City towards Quiapo in Manila when a white SUV abruptly cut through his lane and stopped.

Almost immediately, a man who was allegedly a companion of Aquino suddenly pulled out a gun and pointed it towards Robert’s direction through the SUV’s window. Within minutes, Aquino, carrying a shotgun, allegedly alighted from the vehicle, went to Robert and asked for his driver’s license.

Robert said their argument only ended when a man wearing a green t-shirt bearing the world “Pulis” alighted from another SUV and pacified Aquino.

According to Eleazar, Aquino was on leave until August 20 but that he nevertheless ordered Aquino to immediately report to duty as he canceled his leave. Further, Eleazar directed Aquino to turn over his issued firearm and badge.

Aquino will be charged administratively for grave misconduct, Eleazar added, while a criminal complaint of grave threat will also be filed against him before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

“This will serve as a lesson for everybody at nagpapasalamat ako dahil na-expose ang mga pulis na abusadong ito,” Eleazar said in a statement.

“Huwag kayong matakot, nasa likod niyo ako at hindi natin hahayaan ang mga katulad ng pulis na ito na abusuhin ang ating mga mamamayan,” the NCRPO director added. /kga
