6-year-old boy saves teacher who fell and sustained cracked skull

A 6-year-old boy became an unexpected hero after calling for help when his teacher went unconscious due to a fall and hitting her head on a desk, last Thursday, Aug. 22.

Joyce Darr was serving as a substitute teacher at Frostproof Elementary School in Florida, United States when the incident happened, as per Polk County Sheriff鈥檚 Office鈥檚 Facebook post last Friday, Aug. 30.

A child from the class she was teaching bumped into her, which led her to fall and hit her head on a desk. The impact from the fall had rendered her unconscious.

The boy, Max Aguilar, immediately ran out of the classroom and looked for someone to help Darr. Thanks to Max鈥檚 quick thinking, the teacher was brought to a hospital.

The police office revealed in an update yesterday, Sept. 4, that Darr 鈥渨as on life support for 12 days with a cracked skull and bleeding on her brain.鈥

Max was reunited with the teacher after Derek, Darr鈥檚 son, had arranged for Max and his mother, Monica to visit them at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center. As a gesture of gratitude, Derek gave the 6-year-old a brand new pair of shoes.

鈥淗e saved my mother鈥檚 life. He鈥檚 the real MVP!!鈥 Derek said.

鈥淗e will always be a hero and family in my eyes!鈥 he stated. 鈥淢om is very weak but is alive and getting stronger everyday.鈥

The police office also awarded Max with a new bike and a good citizenship award on Aug. 30 for 鈥渟eeing something, and saying something, especially during such a scary time.鈥 JB
