TD ‘Marilyn’ slows down while moving northwest—Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression “Marilyn” slowed down while moving northwest, the state weather bureau said Friday.

In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Marilyn” slowed down at 10 kilometers per hour (kph) while moving northwest, down from 20 kph last forecasted at 4 a.m.

The tropical depression was last spotted at 1,045 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

“Marilyn” is also packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

The state weather bureau said the weather disturbance is less likely to make landfall.

Frequent light to moderate with occasional heavy rains will be experienced over Palawan, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and the Bangsamoro region.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Northern Mindanao, Soccksargen, and the rest of Mimaropa and Visayas, meanwhile, will have occasional light to moderate rain with at times heavy rain during thunderstorms. /muf
