Twins topnotchers of engineering, nursing board exams

Twins brothers Jose Raphael Delos Santos and Jose Gabriel Delos Santos brought pride to their family after they ranked in the top 10 of their respective board exams in nursing and electrical engineering.

Their uncle Jovenal Gaspar Madulid posted their achievements on Facebook on Sunday, Sept. 8, recalling that the family had only hoped that they would graduate and pass the boards.

Jose Raphael ranked 8th in the Nurse Licensure Exam, which he took last November 2018. Their family celebrated again when Jose Gabriel was among the top 6 in the Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination administered last August, the results of which were posted on Sept. 6.

Jose Gabriel studied electrical engineering at Bulacan State University Malolos, while Jose Raphael took up nursing in the University of the Philippines Manila.

Quoting their mother Elizabeth Madulid Delos Santos, it was recounted in the post that the twins were born prematurely at only seven months into the pregnancy.

“At that time, the doctor told me that ‘alagaang mabuti, baka di magtagal,’” she said. “Luckily, parehong lumaking healthy, mabait at matalino.”

(Luckily, they both grew up to be healthy, kind and smart.)

She said they had a common interest in musical instruments and that they were classmates up until college, when they chose their own paths—and eventually excelled in their studies.  /ra
