A police officer went above and beyond the call of service when she gave a homeless woman, whose bike had been stolen about two months ago, a new one.

Jessica Madras’ bike was stolen while she was at work in Florida, United States, as per the Sarasota Police Department’s Facebook post on Thursday, Sept. 19.

She then reported the theft to Amelia Wicinski, who has not been able to recover the stolen bike.

Wicinski later found out that Madras was an expectant mother. This led her to work with Salvation Army, a popular charity organization, to buy a new bike for Madras. The officer also gave her lights and a lock for it.

“She shouldn’t be walking that far every day and she’s trying,” Wicinski said in the video. “I appreciate that so much and I wanted to make it easier for her.”

Wicinski then surprised Madras by delivering the new bike straight to her while she was at work last Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The officer’s thoughtful gesture brought Madras to tears.
