MANILA, Philippines – The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) resumed partial operations Tuesday morning after a burning power rectifier paralyzed operations last week.

The trains, however, will only operate from Cubao (Araneta City terminal) in Quezon City to C.M. Recto Avenue station in Manila and vice versa, while the Anonas, Katipunan and Santolan stations remain closed.

The first trip from Cubao to Recto rolled off 6 a.m.

The last trip from Cubao is 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. from Recto.

In an earlier statement, Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) administrator   Reynaldo Berroya said only a limited number of trains will be deployed and speed restrictions will be implemented.

“[This is] to ensure passenger safety and the sufficiency of the power supply coming from the remaining rectifier substations,”  Berroya said in a statement Monday night.

He also appealed for the public’s patience as he assured that the LRTA will aim to restore full operation of the train line within six to nine months. /gsg
