04:00 AM October 23, 2019

Republic Act No. 9729 or the Climate Change Act of 2009 was approved, leading to the creation of the Climate Change Commission on Oct. 23, 2009.

The commission, an independent and autonomous body with the same status as that of a national government agency, is in charge of coordinating, monitoring and evaluating programs of the government on climate change.

It is under the Office of the President, who serves as the chair and has the power to appoint three commissioners.

The commission’s office is located at the First Residences Building in San Miguel, Manila. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
