PNP spokesman: Some officials disappointed with major revamp
MANILA, Philippines – A number of senior police officials were disappointed with the revamp initiated by Philippine National Police officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa, PNP Spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac bared.
“It’s true that some of our colleagues have expressed disappointment that they were moved to certain positions,” Banac said in an interview on ABS-CBN 黑料社 Channel Wednesday morning.
Banac, however, pointed out that the massive reshuffling implemented by Gamboa over the weekend, which had affected the leadership in national headquarters and regional police offices, is part of the career movement in the PNP.

“Everybody understands that you don’t have a title or a hold on a position for a long time. If the leadership deems it is necessary that you move up the ladder of the career then we go,” he said.
Banac added that even as some officials were moved from units perceived to be more active and significant in terms of police operations to positions that require more administrative tasks, the reshuffling was not a demotion for officials affected by the revamp.
Meanwhile, Rogelio Casurao, vice chairman of the National Police Commission, said they had given Gamboa, also a candidate to be the next leader of the 190,000-strong PNP, the authority to implement the revamp.
Gamboa, the PNP’s deputy chief for administration, was named officer-in-charge of the national police force after erstwhile PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde stepped down amid the “ninja cops” controversy. /gsg
