Baby dies due to dehydration in Makilala, Cotabato
KIDAPAWAN CITY –– A six-month-old baby died due to severe dehydration in the town of Makilala, Cotabato, one of the hardest-hit areas by the series of tremors that rocked Mindanao in the last three weeks.
Dr. Georgina Sorilla, Makilala municipal health officer, said the baby did not die in the evacuation center.
She said the baby, identified as Piala, suffered loose bowel movement and had rashes in the body when a volunteer doctor visited their place on Sunday.
Sorilla said volunteer doctors who conducted a medical mission found that the baby in Purok Lubi, Barangay New Bulatukan was already ill.
“We gave the parent of the child medicines as immediate relief,” Sorilla said.
The baby’s health condition worsened Tuesday and was rushed to the nearby Midway Hospital where attending physicians declared the baby dead.
