2 motorcyclists dead, 9 hurt in Quezon road accidents

LUCENA CITY – Two motorcycle riders died and at least nine other motorists were injured in two separate road accidents in Gumaca and San Narciso towns in Quezon province on Saturday and Sunday, police said.

Report from Gumaca police said a Bicol-bound DLTB bus being driven by Levie Talento accidentally lost control of his vehicle while negotiating the Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Binambang around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

The wayward bus consequently crashed into a house owned by Domingo Millar. No house occupants were hurt.

Injured were bus passengers Maria Fe Panlican, Gerardo Quiñones, Lilian Yanto, Maria Anna Raiza Maragana, Jodelyn Martin, Ric Rojo and Diosie Ongcay, who were all taken to Gumaca District Hospital. Talento was taken to RAKKK Prophet Medical Center, also in Gumaca.

In San Narciso, motorcyclists Jerwin Carabot and his back rider Mark Jovel Abejuela both died while being taken to a hospital after their vehicle got involved in an accident with another motorcyclist in Barangay Calwit around 1:50 a.m. Saturday.

Report said the victim’s vehicle side-swept motorcycle rider Blademer Culla and consequently fell out of their vehicle.

The three riders were taken to San Narciso Municipal Hospital but the Carabot and Abejuela, who were not wearing crash helmets, died while on the way. Culla was confined at the said hospital.
