A group of homeowners used a Christmas tree to fill a pothole in a neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, in hopes to get their county officials to permanently fix it.

Peter West, one of the residents, pointed out that he could “see down five or six feet of hollowed out area” beneath the hole, as per CBS46 last Tuesday, Nov. 12.

“Instead of being negative and screaming and stomping our feet and being ugly about it, why not have fun with it and still get attention and get the job done so it’s not so dangerous for the neighborhood?” Sharon Magruder, a homeowner, was quoted as saying.

The Christmas tree was even decorated with lights and ornaments, as per report.  Magruder noted that the lights also prevent others from falling into the pothole.

The residents, who appear to be fed up with the inaction of their county officials, also gathered by the hole to sing their parody version of the popular Christmas carol, “O Christmas Tree”.

“Oh Archwood tree, Oh Archwood tree,” they sang, “when will our street be pothole-free?”

The homeowners’ efforts turned out to be successful as the pothole was reportedly filled by authorities later in the day.

Authorities also appear to have taken away the Christmas tree with them, since it was not found after the hole was temporarily filled, as per report. A spokesperson for the county stated that they will soon be repaving the road once “the weather permits.” Ryan Arcadio/JB
