Double pay for Rizal Day, New Year’s Day

/ 05:24 AM December 30, 2019

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III reminded employers that their workers should be paid twice their regular daily wages should they report for work on Rizal Day and New Year’s Day.

Since these are regular holidays, Bello said that employees reporting for work should be paid 200 percent of their wages on the first eight hours, and an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate should they do overtime.

If these days fall on an employee’s rest day, he is to be paid an additional 30 percent of his basic wage of 200 percent.
