MANILA, Philippines – Thirteen persons were arrested in Manila on Wednesday for violating city ordinances, as part of the police’s post-New Year cleanup drive.

Information from the Ermita Police Station said that cleanup operations were conducted along P. Burgos street corner of Maria Orosa Street, an hour after the New Year celebrations.

Out of the 13, 11 were apprehended for anti-littering ordinances while two were arrested for drinking in public.

“The purpose of said activity is to remove all illegal vendors and illegal parking, parking/street dwellers, etc and as a part of the Anti-Criminality campaign of this station in the line with safe Yuletide Season,” the Ermita Police Station said.
