ACT-CIS rep’s SUV falls victim to ‘basag kotse’ thieves in QC mall
MANILA, Philippines — Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Partylist Rep. Rowena “Niña” Taduran’s belongings were stolen after “basag kotse” thieves smashed the window of her sports utility vehicle (SUV) while it was parked at Quezon City mall on Monday afternoon.
Initially, Maj. Bernardo Pascua, station commander of Quezon City police station 11, told in a phone interview that Taduran parked her SUV at the third level parking area of the mall at 3:22 p.m.
Pascua said Taduran, along with her children, went inside the mall to eat.
But after further confirmation, Pascua said in another phone call with that Taduran was in Malacañang to attend the signing of P4.1-trillion 2020 national budget.
Meanwhile, Taduran’s children and driver went to eat inside the mall while waiting for their mother.
Article continues after this advertisementAfter almost three hours, Taduran’s driver and children returned to their vehicle and discovered that the SUV’s window had been smashed and Taduran’s valuables were already missing.
Article continues after this advertisementPolice said the still-unidentified suspects carted away a laptop worth P60,000; a cellphone worth P97,000; a shoulder bag; necklace worth P40,000; a pendant worth P5,000; assorted ATM cards; P8,000 in cash; assorted government IDs and 2 cellphone chargers.
Pascua said the case was turned over to the Quezon City Police District – Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit for further investigation.
