MANILA, Philippines — Part of Aurora Boulevard will be closed to motorists from Jan. 25 to Feb. 1 to give way for replacement of 11 escalator units of Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) in Cubao Station, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Thursday.

In a statement, MMDA said a portion of Aurora Boulevard between Oxford and Imperial streets would be closed to traffic.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will “transfer the escalator units from a big truck to Cubao LRT-2 Station using a mobile crane,” MMDA said.

MMDA said the DOTr operatives would transfer the units only at night to “lessen inconvenience to motorists.”

Private and public utility vehicles are advised to take the following route to avoid traffic:

Vehicles going to Manila must turn right to Yale Street or Oxford Street, turn right to Columbia Street, turn left to Imperial or West Point Street then back to Aurora Boulevard.
