Calauag town has 5 new COVID-19 patients; Quezon record jumps to 48

LUCENA CITY –– Quezon province has at least five new confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) carriers on Saturday, bringing the total number of infected persons in the province to 48.

In its 1 p.m. report, the Quezon Provincial Information Office, citing the latest record from the Integrated Provincial Health Office, disclosed that all five new cases were traced to Calauag town.

No other details were given on the latest COVID-19 patients from Calauag.

With the latest report, the recorded COVID-19 cases in Calauag suddenly jumped to seven from Friday’s only two.

On Friday evening, the total number of COVID-19 patients in the province was only 43.

The local COVID-19 deaths in the province remained at six from the towns of Candelaria, Unisan, Infanta, Calauag, Tiaong, and Sariaya.

At least three patients from Lucena City, Tayabas City, and Sariaya town, tested negative and were discharged from the hospitals.

With the recovery of the three patients and the death of five others, the number of active COVID-19 carriers in the province is down to 39.

In the latest tally, Lucena has 15 patients; Tayabas, six; Calauag, six; Candelaria, three; Unisan and Pagbilao, two each; and the towns of Sariaya, Sampaloc, Pitogo, Real, and Lopez, one each.
