GUINOBATAN, Albay, Philippines — Unable to celebrate the centennial founding anniversary and the celebration of the Bantayog Festival, the Camarines Norte provincial government decided to use the P12 million earmarked for the two events for its new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) response.

The province’s centennial celebrations and its 16th Bantayog Festival were supposed to be held on April 1 until the 15th of May.

Don Culvera, head of the Incident Management Team for COVID-19 Response in the province, said that the fund was used for food, supplies and the preparations for the quarantine hospitals and facilities in the province.

“The best possible gift that we can give to the people of Camarines Norte is to assure them that the provincial government, through Gov. Edgardo Tallado, is making sure that we will be COVID-free and we will provide them their basic needs during the crisis,” Culvera said.
