Cops with COVID-19 now at 71; 10 cops recover — PNP

MANILA, Philippines — There are now 71 cops in the country confirmed to have the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as the Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded four new cases on Monday.

The four new confirmed cases were a 38-year-old female, a 45-year-old male, a 32-year-old male, and a 33-year-old male — all assigned in Metro Manila, the PNP said in a statement.

The 71 cops were among the 6,259 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, of which 409 patients have died while 572 were able to recover.

Meanwhile, two more cops were reported to have recovered from the respiratory disease, bringing the total to 10 recoveries. The PNP said the two recoveries — patient 5 and patient 34 — are also assigned in Metro Manila.

The agency’s health service also recorded 59 PNP personnel who are probable COVID-19 patients, which include 17 police commissioned officers, 50 non-commissioned police officers, and two non-uniformed personnel.

A total of 604 personnel, meanwhile, are being monitored as suspected COVID-19 patients, including 132 police commissioned officers, 442 police non-commissioned officers, and 30 non-uniformed personnel.

Six hundred PNP personnel, which include 196 probable and 404 suspected COVID-19 patients, have completed the 14-day self-quarantine, the PNP added.

Forty PNP personnel were admitted at the agency’s COVID-19 patient care center in its national headquarters, while Spring Hotel has admitted 110 PNP personnel.
