MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Navy’s BRP Bacolod City (LS550) set sail on Tuesday to pick up 23,385 boxes of personal protective equipment (PPE) from China.

The Navy public affairs office acting director, Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas, said the logistics support vessel left Crabba Pier at Sangley Point, Cavite, on Tuesday morning for Zhangzou Port in Xiamen, China.

Roxas said the ship, skippered by Commander Rogelio Lachica, was tasked by the national task force against the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to pick up the boxes of PPE that the Department of Budget and Management bought last month from China.
