40 new COVID-19 cases among PH health workers; no new death reported
MANILA, Philippines — Forty more healthcare workers in the country were confirmed to have the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total of infected to 1,859 as of May 5.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Wednesday said of the total, 1,445 are considered active cases. Nine are severe cases and 1,000 are mild cases while 436 infected show no symptoms.
Meanwhile, 30 more healthcare workers were able to recover from the disease, bringing the total of COVID-19 recoveries to 380.
No new deaths were also recorded on May 5, Vergeire said. She added that cases of healthcare workers contracting the coronavirus are decreasing.
“Kahapon walang naitalang bagong kaso na healthcare workers na namatay dahil sa COVID-19. Paunti na nang paunti ang nakikita natin na healthcare workers na nagkakaroon ng COVID-19,” she said in an online press conference.
