MANILA, Philippines — Ten streets in Parañaque City’s Barangay Baclaran will be placed under a three-day “calibrated lockdown” starting at 6 a.m. today, May 21, until Saturday midnight due to the high number of confirmed new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in these areas.

An advisory signed by Mayor Edwin Olivarez identified these as Bagong Sikat, Bagong Lipunan, Bagong Pag-asa, Bagong Ilog, E. Rodriguez, Bagong Buhay, Bagong Silang, Dimasalang Extension, Mabuhay and 12 De Junio.

Residents will undergo testing and those found positive will be moved to quarantine facilities in the city.

Olivarez said the areas were recommended by barangay and city health personnel who had conducted community-based screening.

The announcement was made late because the city government’s request to implement a lockdown to the Regional Interagency Task Force for COVID-19 was approved only on Monday night.
