A delivery driver paused for a few seconds to say a short prayer after delivering a package in a home in Idaho, United States. Her prayer was meant for the family鈥檚 8-month old baby.
Homeowners Derek and Raquel Pearson are the parents of baby Lucas who is suffering from a heart condition and difficulty in eating, as per NBC-affiliate KTVB last Sunday, May 24. Doctors say the baby鈥檚 condition puts him in a high risk of contracting the novel coronavirus.
Because of this, the parents are taking extra precautions by relying on delivery services. They posted a sign on their door intended for thanking delivery personnel. The sign also states their son鈥檚 condition.
Raquel later saw their home鈥檚 security camera footage which captured the Amazon delivery driver praying, after the driver saw the sign. The driver was later identified as Monica Salinas. The mom posted the video of Salinas鈥檚 act in the Idaho COVID-19 Mutual Aid Group, a on May 3 to locate her.
鈥淚 noticed that she was standing there, and I didn鈥檛 really realize what she was doing until I saw her doing the sign of the cross鈥,鈥 Raquel was quoted as saying. 鈥淚 kind of choked up a bit. It鈥檚 been really hard to get through this, so I鈥檓 really touched that a stranger would take time out of her day to wish our son well like that.鈥
People recognized Salinas from Raquel鈥檚 post and helped the family identify the delivery person. Salinas said that seeing the family鈥檚 note touched her heart as well.
鈥淚 just stopped to do what my heart told me to do, to say a prayer for the baby and for the parents because that鈥檚 got to be very painful for all of them to see their baby hurt and struggle,鈥 Salinas said in the report. 鈥淚 just prayed that they can make it through another day, one day at a time.鈥
Salinas is grateful for the support people have been giving her and her fellow frontline workers during these challenging times. Cha Lino/JB
