PAL to resume selected international, domestic flights starting June 1
MANILA, Philippines — As the country shifts to more relaxed COVID-19 quarantine measures starting June 1, the Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced the resumption of selected international and domestic flights.
In an advisory issued Friday night, PAL said it will resume domestic flights to the following cities and provinces:
- Basco
- Laoag
- Legazpi
- Puerto Princesa
- Busuanga (Coron)
- Bacolod
- Cebu
- Dumaguete
- Iloilo
- Kalibo
- Caticlan
- Roxas
- Tacloban
- Tagbiliran
- Butuan
- Cotabato
- Cagayan de Oro
- Dipolog
- Davao
- General Santos
- Ozamiz
- Pagadian
- Zamboanga
As for international routes, PAL said it will restore flights to the following destinations:
- USA
- Canada
- Guam
- Vietnam
- mainland China
- Malaysia
- Indonesia
- Vietnam
- Hong Kong
- Taipei
- Singapore
- Japan
- United Arab Emirates
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
The flag carrier added that it is also evaluating the possibility of reviving operations to London and Sydney within June.
However, the airline noted that it will not reinstate yet in June flights to and from the following places:
- Auckland
- Bali
- Bangkok
- Beijing
- Brisbane
- Busan
- Fukuoka
- Guangzhou
- Hanoi
- Macau
- Melbourne
- Phnom Penh
- Perth
- Port Moresb
- Quanzhou (Jinjiang)
- Sapporo
- Seoul (Incheon)
- Shanghai
PAL said it will implement Fly Safe “new normal” practices to ensure the protection of passengers.
Article continues after this advertisementMoreover, PAL advised passengers to bring their own face mask or facial covering as wearing them is now required at all times in the airport and while aboard their planes.
Article continues after this advertisement“Our cabin crew would have undergone rapid antibody testing prior to the flight, and will be wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for your protection onboard the flight,” PAL said.
“A modified meal and snack service will be offered onboard, using sealed packaging instead of the traditional meal,” the airline added.
By June 1, Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Region II, Region III, Region IV-A (Calabarzon), Region VII, Zamboanga City, Davao City, Cebu City, and Mandaue City will be under general community quarantine while the rest of the country will be on modified general community quarantine.
International and domestic flights have been suspended for two months as the government placed travel restrictions to prevent the spread of the potentially deadly respiratory ailment COVID-19.
The Philippines so far has 16,634 cases COVID-19 cases, of which 942 have died while 3,720 successfully recovered.
