MANILA, Philippines — Additional bus stops along the Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) will be opened to the public by June 21, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Friday.
“By June 21, gradually [ang] pagbubukas,” MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said in a text message to .
Garcia, however, said the MMDA has yet to identify the specific bus stops.
Currently, public utility buses on Edsa are only allowed to load and unload at the designated stops at North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, Ayala Avenue, and Taft Avenue.
Garcia said more work needs to be done to establish the bus stops at the middle island of Edsa after the MMDA allocated the two innermost (left) lanes for buses.
Garcia also explained that the MMDA was not able to work on the bus stops ahead of time since during the modified enhanced community quarantine period.
Garcia said the MMDA is working double time to open the additional bus stops, and that the agency plans to prioritize opening the Edsa-Ortigas bus station considering the large number of commuters in the area.
