2 suspects killed in P244.8-M ‘shabu’ bust

MANILA, Philippines — Two men were killed after they allegedly shot it out with law enforcers in an antidrug operation in Parañaque City on Saturday afternoon.

The Philippine National Police said Jin Long Cai and Danny Apiga were killed in the “entrapment operation” jointly conducted by the PNP’s Drug Enforcement Group (DEG), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Parañaque police at Uniwide Coastal Mall on Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard.

The slain suspects were found carrying 36 kilograms of a white substance believed to be crystal meth, or “shabu,” wrapped in 36 packs with Chinese markings, the PNP-DEG said in a report.

The drugs’ street value was estimated at P244.8 million.

Also recovered from the crime scene were a Kia sedan used by the suspects and two .45-caliber pistols, the report added.
